Profile

Phil Bird was born and reared in Springville.  He enjoyed growing up in the community and attending the local schools.  Following a mission to New Zealand, he graduated from Brigham Young University.  He married Katherine Savage and they have five children: Blain (Marla) Bird, Brandt (Wendy) Bird, Walter (Becky) Bird, Kirsten (Scott) Hullinger and Lorna (Kirk) Newbold.  They are expecting their nineteenth grandchild next fall.

Phil greatly enjoyed his work with the Nebo School District, recently retiring after 34 years as a teacher and administrator.  He particularly enjoyed the many people he associated with at Springville High School, Springville Junior High and the District Office.  He has also enjoyed working in his church and community.

Phil believes that Springville has some of the best people on earth and it is a wonderful place to live.  However, with rapid growth in the community, there are tremendous challenges for all of us.  Citizens should approach community problems and goals with patience and with the attitude that problems can eventually be solved by good people working together.
